With apologies to Mr Kipling (oh I love those cakes!) and for the sexist ending...
If...
If you can keep your head when you’re in cycle
And all about are saying “I get clusters too�?
If you can keep the pain you’re feeling from them
And still give them a civil word or two,
If you can hurt and not give into hurting,
Or be fobbed off by doctors who don’t know,
Or be attacked once, twice, thrice nightly
And yet try not to let it really show:
If you can wake - yet don’t wake up your partner,
If you can pace – and not disturb the cat
If you can meet the Beast and be his master
And send him beaten back to where he’s at;
If you can know that just for now it’s over,
Yet soon will come to haunt you once again,
And watch your family watch you, broken-hearted,
And even then some kind of life maintain:
If you can concentrate upon the good things
Despite the bad that dominates your life,
And think of those you know who also suffer
And try to help them through their times of strife;
If you can give, and share what you’ve discovered
And try to make things better, here and there,
And so to spread & widen understanding
To get the treatment that is only fair:
If you can talk with colleagues and with family,
And tell them what it’s like inside your head,
But not to make them pity or avoid you
But rather help them work with you instead:
If you can fill each blessed pain-free minute
With sixty second’s worth of life and fun
You and they will be the stronger for it,
For yes - you are a clusterhead my son!

My head,my head
that is the cry
and all i can do is watch and sigh
He writhes around upon his bed
he's holding tight onto his head
The pain i fear is getting worse
these cluster headaches the dreaded curse
No cure they say
just pain free days
oh no dear Lord there here to stay
They came from nowhere
like a thief in the night
who steals your sleep and causes a fright
I pray Dear Lord the pain will cease
but instead it seems to increse.
I,m not a suffer,i'm a supporter

I don't want these headaches, my heads in a spin
I'd rather stay at home with a bottle of Gin
I just have to cope at my own weary pace
But my doctor thinks I'm a blooming head case
I'm fed up, depressed, but I wont go to bed
I'll only end up with the pain in my head
I'll jump up and down and i'll curse and i'll swear
And i'll take all the pills. (well as much as I dare)
So I'm going to London to Queens Square thats right
And me and Dr Manjit we'll put up a fight
Till weve tested and tried all there is to be had
And i'm back to normal and not going mad
The moral it seems, is the way to get well
Is just tell your doctor to go to Hell

Hello. My name is is Elliot and I am 10. I wrote a poem for my Dad who is a sufferer. He is called Michael. Here it is.
TRAGEDY
Bursting head,
Stay in bed,
Got to get up,
Before I throw up!
Birds are singing,
Wish they were on a dingy,
Floating away,
Forever and a day.
In despair,
So much much care,
Wish I was there,
With a hug like a bear.
I will always be there...
I will always be there...
Blank charts equals happiness,
Smiling face staring back at you from a mirror,
Peace at last,
No need to fast.
